Lena & The Slide Brothers

was formed in 2009 in Helsinki, Finland. The musical co-operation of the lead singer/bass player Lena Lindroos and guitarist Matti Kettunen had over the years resulted in a fair amount of songs that needed to be heard. In order to form an outstanding band, they asked multi-instrumentalist Ville Leppänen and drummer Juha Litmanen to join them. Each member of the group has made their own contribution to the Finnish roots music scene for more than twenty years, playing in numerous bands.

Their debut album Turn it on was released in June 2010 and it contains a wide range of American roots music styles. The blues is there, so is country music, and you can also hear influences of soul, rock, bluegrass and gospel. However, they have managed to make their music sound fresh and original. Catchy melodies and riffs, lots of acoustic instruments and most of all: powerful lead vocals and harmonies. And of course, as the name reveals, Lena & The Slide Brothers proudly presents their two slide guitar players.

When performing they will take you on a musical journey from Helsinki to New Orleans, up the river Mississippi to Memphis and further on...a familiar trip to many Finnish festival crowds during the the past two years.

Lena & The Slide Brothers on tuore kokoonpano kokeneilta tekijöiltä. Vuodesta 2009 alkaen orkesteri on yhdistellyt sujuvasti amerikkalaisia musiikillisia vaikutteita, joihin kuuluvat mm. blues, country, soul, bluegrass ja rock'n'roll. Yhtyeen debyyttilevy Turn it on ilmestyi kesäkuussa 2010. 

Pääkaupunkiseudulta tulevan bändin riveissä on soittajia, jotka osaavat myös laulaa. Pääosia näyttelevät Lena Lindroosin verevät laulutulkinnat, "veljesten" monipuolinen iloittelu kielisoitinten parissa sekä yhtyeen käytössä oleva laaja rytminen paletti. Oman materiaalin lisänä kuullaan keikoilla versioita tarkoin valituista lainakappaleista.

Vuoden 2011 aikana bändi  esiintyi klubikeikkojen lisäksi useilla kotimaisilla festivaaleilla, mukaan lukien Puistoblues ja Rauma Blues. 

Vuosi 2012 on alkanut muutamalla festari- ja klubikeikalla. Seuraava levy on jo työn alla.
